Principle LRU Test Equipment Development Engineer - CT

South Windsor, CT

Purpose

Contribute extensive aerospace LRU test experience towards the conceptualization, commercialization and adoption of innovative test solutions for emerging new autonomous and electrified commercial and military aircraft.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering or science; electrical, systems or aerospace engineering preferred; MS a plus
  • 15 years of experience with the specification, design, maintenance and/or use of automated testing equipment in the aerospace and defense industries, including a minimum of 10 years of LRU test development experience
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including the expression of requirements, systems and solutions
  • Strong team as well as customer orientation 

Helpful Skills

  • LRU test development experience, such as autonomous systems, flight control systems (FCS), mission systems, vehicle management systems (VMS), electronic engine controls (EEC), environmental controls, full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), battery (BMS) and energy management systems (EMS) and power controls systems (PCS)
  • LRU hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), systems integration lab (SIL) and iron bird testing experience, including the engineering verification as well as validation of the interoperability of multiple LRU systems, sensors and actuators 
  • LRU acceptance and production test development experience, including cable harnesses, interface test adapaters (ITAs) and test program sets (TPS).
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles and tools including ATML, SysML, Rational DOORS and Cameo
  • Working knowledge of common aerospace and defense sensors, actuators, electronic signals and communication buses, such as MIL-STD-461, ARINC 429, ARINC 664, RS485, Cyphal, TCP,  TSN, TTEthernet, MIL-STD-1553B, thermocouples, VDTs, and loads
  • Experience with DO-178, DO-330, SS-473, industry software and test equipment qualification standards and specifications
  • Experience with the use of lab testing as a means of achieving regulatory type certification for FAA, TCCA, EASA, etc.
  • Experience with COTS testing equipment from National Instruments (NI) and UEI, including LabVIEW, VeriStand, Test Stand, PXI, RIO and SLSC
  • Participation in standards boards such as SAE and AIAA

Responsibilities

Work together with BLOOMY's engineering teams to refresh and extend a growing portfolio of commercial test equipment to support evolving new Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) standards and requirements, spanning engineering, integration, certification, production as well as flightline and MRO depot testing. Contribute to key customer meetings, presentations and bid and proposal strategies. Participate in standards boards and industry events. Contribute to the development of marketing collateral, application notes, case studies, video clips, webinars, blogs, demos, and exhibits. Liaise with industry partners. Support the company's mission to provide automated test solutions for mission-critical and emerging applicactions which increase product safety, performance and reliability while reducing cost.

Locations

Company headquarters in South Windsor, CT with 20% travel to industry events and customer locations primarily within the United States.
