Embedded Systems Engineer- CT

South Windsor, CT

Purpose

Develop embedded systems for mission critical and emerging applications serving aerospace, automotive and defense.

Requirements

  • BS in engineering or science; MS a plus
  • 5+ Years of multi-disciplinary engineering design experience, including 2+ years of embedded systems development
  • Ability to conceive practical embedded design concepts for mechanical, electrical as well as software
  • Experience managing technical requirements spanning software, firmware, hardware and integration
  • Experience with verification and validation (hands-on testing) of embedded solutions
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Rapidly responsive, personable and engaging

Helpful Skills

  • Electrical systems design experience including component and enclosure specification, PCBA design pricipals and integration best practices, schematic drawings, power and signal distribution, and electrical harness design
  • Mechanical design experience including CAD modeling for part, assembly and drawings using SolidWorks, layout, thermal management, EMI/EMC considerations
  • Software development experience in C/C++, Verilog/VHDL, LabVIEW or Python
  • Experience with Serial, TCP, SPI, I2C, CAN and 1553B communications buses 
  • Familiar with design for manufacturing (DFM) inlcuding sheet metal, CNC milling/turning, additive manufacturing
  • Understanding of PLM/PDM systems for design release process, BOM/configuration management, ECOs, etc.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, power supplies, electronic loads, LXI, PXI, etc.)
  • Familiar with compliance testing (FCC, CE, IEC, EN, EMI, EMC)

Responsibilities

Work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, project managers and manufacturing to develop and deliver high-quality embedded engineering solutions in accordance with best professional practices for external customers as well as internal stakeholders. Conceptualize innovative yet practical solutions for projects in all phases of development from proposal to delivery. Participate in technical design planning, development and reviews. Lead technical tasks towards meeting customer and project manager expectations on quality, schedule and costs. Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures. 

Location

Company headquarters in South Windsor, CT with occasional travel to company offices and customer sites primarily within the northeast United States.
